Done is Better Than Perfect

I’m in the midst of rebuilding my own websites. After my big move this summer, I accidentally deleted my previous websites except for a few old backups, and took it as a sign that it was time for something new, something fresh.

So I’m rebuilding. Re-using the pieces that are really good and still in alignment, and creating something new, a new evolution of my business.

It’s a fabulous opportunity to practice what I preach and apply everything I know about online marketing to my own business. And I want to give you a peek behind the scenes as I do, to use myself as an example of what I teach. Perhaps it will inspire you and give you ideas for your own marketing and what will work best for you.

I’ve found myself in that place of wanting everything to be perfect before I put it out there. My website isn’t done yet, there are still a few pages and pieces to add to it, and it will continue to evolve. But I keep feeling that nudge to put it out there anyway, and the fear that it’s not good enough.

Can you relate? Have you ever gone to publish something, launch something, put something out there for the world to see, and felt that fear that maybe it’s not good enough?

It’s scary to put myself out there, there is a real risk of being rejected, judged, criticized… and yet, I’m not going to let that fear hold me back! I am here to be me and share my truth, no matter what someone else thinks or says about it.

So my mantra this week is:

Done is better than perfect!

It doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s not about being perfect and getting everything exactly right. It’s about showing up, being authentic, following your joy and your passion, expressing you with all your glorious imperfections!

And so I am showing up. I’m putting it out there, even though my website is no where near perfect yet. It doesn’t matter, I’m starting somewhere – HERE and NOW – and taking the plunge.

I can tweak and refine and change things as I go. I can always change my mind and try something else. I can always course correct and change direction. The key is to take the first step, and the next one, and the next one.

So welcome to my website! It’s a work in progress, and will continue to evolve, but I am very excited to share it and show you what I’m working on.

And I will continue to bring you along on the journey as I rebuild my sites, so that perhaps you will be inspired and get some great ideas for your own website and business.

Your Turn

What is something you have been putting off because it’s not “perfect” or you’re afraid you aren’t “enough”? Done is better than perfect. Just DO it. And let me know how it goes in the comments below.
